The update server can run on Docker, Coolify or a standalone Nginx host. Configure it through `/admin`.

## Docker and Coolify

1. Add [FluxWP/updater](https://github.com/FluxWP/updater) to Coolify or clone it.
2. Select the Dockerfile build pack.
3. Mount persistent storage at `/var/www/html/data` for settings, statistics and ZIP cache.
4. Configure the domain and SSL and complete setup at `https://<domain>/admin`.

For local use, the repository includes `docker-compose.yml`:

```bash
docker compose up -d
```

## Configuration

Use the panel to enter repository, token and server settings. Keep credentials out of the repository. If deploying through Coolify, store any deployment credentials as secrets.

## Nginx

Apache includes `.htaccess` rules. On Nginx deny access to configuration, data, libraries and hidden files and forward application routes to `index.php`:

```nginx
location ~ ^/(config\.php|config\.sample\.php|lib/|data/|bin/|\.) { deny all; }
location / { try_files $uri /index.php$is_args$args; }
location = /index.php {
    include fastcgi_params;
    fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root/index.php;
    fastcgi_pass php;
}
```

After setup, verify that `/data/settings.json` returns 403 and `/admin` shows the login screen.
