Free vs freemium plugins
Freemium plugins start free and put the useful part behind a yearly license. That isn't a bad model, but it helps to know the cost up front.
| FluxWP | Freemium plugin | |
|---|---|---|
| Features | All on | Key parts are in Pro |
| License key | None | Required for Pro |
| Number of sites | Unlimited | Limited by plan |
| Updates | Always free | Tied to a yearly renewal |
| Admin screens | No ads | Upgrade banners and locked menus |
Set up in three steps
- Download Flux Setup. It's a single zip file.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin, install and activate it.
- Pick the plugins, a preset and a colour in the wizard. Flux Setup installs the rest.
Requirements: WordPress 6.6+, PHP 7.4+. Shared hosting is fine.
Frequently asked questions
Didn't find your answer? Write to us. hello@fluxwp.com
Why are FluxWP plugins free?
Because our income comes from WordPress and WooCommerce hosting and custom development, not from selling licenses. The plugins are open source and GPL licensed.
Will they become paid later?
The code is GPL: the version you download today stays free and open, and nobody can take it back. Anyone can take the code and carry it on.
Is there support for the free plugins?
The wiki has setup and settings guides, and you can report bugs and ideas on GitHub. If you want setup, a migration or a custom feature, we do that as a paid service.
Is a free plugin safe?
The source is open, so anyone can review it. If you find a vulnerability, report it privately as described in SECURITY.md in the repository; the fix ships to everyone in a new release.
How do I install them?
Download Flux Setup and install it in WordPress under Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin. The setup wizard installs the plugins, theme and starter pages you pick in a few clicks. Updates arrive on the normal WordPress Updates screen.
