Open source WordPress plugins

Open source WordPress plugins that work as one system

FluxWP's 20+ plugins and its theme are GPL licensed. The source code is public on GitHub: read it, change it, use it on as many sites as you like.

  • GPL-2.0-or-later
  • No license key
  • Runs on your server
  • English & Turkish

What open source means here

Not just "free to download". The code, the license and the way it is built are all open.

  1. All of the code is on GitHub

Every plugin's source, changelog and issues live in a public repository. You can see what you install before you install it.

  2. The same license as WordPress

GPL-2.0-or-later. Use the code on any number of sites, change it, and share your changes under the same license.

  3. No hidden paid part

There is no open core with a closed Pro add-on. The code you download is all the code there is.

  4. Open to contributions

Report bugs, suggest improvements, send pull requests. An accepted change ships to everyone in the next release.

Every open source plugin

One repository, one license. Install one, add more when you need them; they work together in the same admin.

Open source vs closed source plugins

Both can do the job. The difference shows when the company behind a plugin changes its price, its license or its direction.

Frequently asked questions

Didn't find your answer? Write to us. hello@fluxwp.com

Are FluxWP plugins really open source?

Yes. All FluxWP plugins and the FluxWP theme are licensed GPL-2.0-or-later. The source code is public at github.com/FluxWP/fluxwp.

Can I use an open source WordPress plugin on a commercial site?

Yes. The GPL does not restrict commercial use, on your own sites or on client sites. The one condition: if you distribute modified code, you distribute it under the same license.

If the plugins are free, how does FluxWP pay for itself?

Through WordPress and WooCommerce hosting and custom development. The plugins are the shared base of that work; keeping them open helps us and everyone who uses them.

Can I still get updates if I change the code?

A file you edit is replaced by the new version on update. For lasting changes, use the plugins' filters and hooks, or send the change as a pull request; once accepted it ships to everyone.

How do I install them?

Download Flux Setup and install it in WordPress under Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin. The setup wizard installs the plugins, theme and starter pages you pick in a few clicks. Updates arrive on the normal WordPress Updates screen.
